Default My Suggestion Letter to Guild Wars

I sent a suggestion letter, wanted to see what people think. Take into account that I am a R/Mo, so my views are from that. Also notice that I am not demanding anything, I am giving suggestions so they can have a broader base to make their gameplay decisions off of. If an idea sucks I am sure they can figure that out and wont implement it, but you dont need to flame me for it. Finally If you have anything to add I really want to hear it, but take into account this is a pro-GW post, if you think the game sucks then go somewhere else please.

Thanks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know you are busy, but if you have some time to read this, I would really appreciate it. I spent over 60 hours of gameplay getting these together (sounds like alot for what your about to read, but I didnt want to submit something worthless to you)

First, thanks for making a great game that is broad, exciting and doesn't end when you hit lvl 20. I have enjoyed it immensely and from the pre-release till now I have played way too much.
Through my quests and adventures I found, not problems, but places where I believe a little time and effort can draw people into the game even more.
So here is the list, hope you appreciate this and dont think im condemning or think you have givin us an unfinished game, because I DONT!

When ressurected after your party dies, sometimes you try a different path to your objective, and for rangers their pets dont come back with them... because pets take 2 skill slots (1 for charm and 1 for heal/res) it puts rangers at a big disadvantage when their pets are not with them, which is why i have currently dropped playing with my pet. Maybe they could be ressurected with the party at the shrine?

In PvP, when you finish a round it would spice things up alot if you gave out awards/statistics. Like most kills, most dammage, most life healed, etc. People love to brag and see their name on the list and I know it would make a little more competition.

Guildmates, I believe, should show up as a different color in towns, so you can easily see them.

I dont know if other people have this problem, but I seem to get a little 20 second freezing when I am in my belt/small bags and I open up my inventory. It happens sometimes and dont know exactly what triggers it.

I noticed you can poison Bone-Dragons, since they shouldn't have any flesh it would make sense to remove this.

The last things here are just stupid ideas that I would enjoy, they really wouldnt affect gameplay, but would be fun to see.

When I dance as a ranger, it would be interesting to have my pet dance with me, or maybe have a /petdance command.

Also, maybe for the future, I want someone who has a country dance if you make any new professions, keep that in mind.

So, I hope you have the time to read this, and if you can reply that would be great. Thanks again for a great game, and not only that, but making it free. Honestly, that is how you got me to play this as opposed to the other MMO's. Also, I love the instances it makes the game alot more competitive, I cant have 100 of my guildmates to take on any of the monsters/bosses.

That is a good letter, with some good ideas. The idea i liked the most being a W/R myself, is the pet ressurrecting with you at the spawn point. I can't tell you how many times i have died and when i respawn i have to run back to find my dead pet surrounded by the group that wiped me out.

Also when your pet dies in battle, i think it is a bit harsh that you can't use any of your skills for 8 seconds or so afterwards. I almost always die after him or am severly crippled when that happens. If you want to leave the effect in there then please make it a shorter penalty rather than so long.

Again great letter and i just wanted to add my two cents worth.

Thank god, I thought this was going to be another "Please make this WOW without the monthly fee" thread. Thankfully it isn't.

I was all set to flame you, too.

Hey I would really like some responses from people, however dont just reply "I like that" I dont want this thread bogged down with that, if you have something to say, give at least 2 suggestions yourself.

Thanks

No, not the drop of the hat.

But instead defending from people who want WOW witn no monthly fees, instead of Guild Wars.

If it was drop of the hat, I woulda flamed him for even making a single suggestion.

Now, off your soapbox.

Now, on to some suggestions:

These have been listed before, but I think their really good ideas, so I'm posting them again. :P

1. List your guildmates proffesions. With all the new people my guild gets, it gets hard for me to keep track of who is who and who is what, especially the newcomers that I've never met. So that would be a nice way to tell who your agreeing to group up with,

2. The ability to dye your hair. I know, it's a vanity thing, but if you can dye your armor, why not just pour that die on your head? I'd like my hair to match the rest of my outfit.

3. Raise the level cap to 55. Don't worry, I'm only kidding.

4. As the leader of We are Godzilla You are Tokyo suggested, only allow Guild leaders and Officers to start Guild matches. Could prevent overzealous Guildmates from getting you in trouble, or prevent possible guild sabatoge.

I am probably a little late but I was just searching the forum and found this post.

I reckon this would improve communication within guilds quite a lot, especially if we had the ability to zoom in/out the radar/compass as well.

I too wondered about this. Would be handy

Some other ideas I have had when playing:

1) Often when you want to meet up with mates in the game they will tell you a city and a district. You then have to change to the city and then change to the district. Would it not be possible to make a system to just jump to the town and district in one hit?

2) I might be wrong (I have not finished the PvE missions as yet) but, to my knowledge, there is no arenas anywhere where a 1v1 PvP battle can take place? I reckon a 1v1 PvP battle would be awesome, especially between magic users. Is there any plans for this?

My thanks to everyone that has submitted information to this site. It certainly helps new players to the game understand how things work.

Nice suggestions.. all except one..

"Also, maybe for the future, I want someone who has a country dance if you make any new professions, keep that in mind."

As long as you all stay in your line dance long enough for meteor shower to hit.

Kick - step.. and BOOM!

Thats actually already in there and has been. When you goto the map you'll see a long silver area that says "Auto select active district" click that and you can goto specify which district you want.

I like the Guild Members show up as different color on the city map.

So, since I have to put in two suggestions:

1.) I would still like to have an audible alert when I receive a whisper and am not paying attention.
2.) I would like to see pets rezz'd with the party as another person mentioned. (I don't mind the skill-lock-out for 8 seconds for my pet dying, that's the price we pay for having another level ?? henchmen along. When they die, a little piece of ourselves dies with them... )

[yes, I stole the OP's idea for my second, so I'm uncreative...]

Some excellent suggestions. But since you mentioned the poisoning of bone dragons, I think it would also be good if you couldn't steal life from the Undead. Just seems like a contradiction.

Now, for my own two cents...

1) I would like to see guild-wide storage, a guild bank (or something of the sort), and perhaps an option to decorate your hall (festive ).

2)You should be able to "buy" NPCs (like merchants and traders) for your hall.

3) I want to see the ability for a guild to buy things like pubs (taverns) and housing for their halls. Any money spent at the pub could go towards the guild (like donating money, but getting drunk while doing it ). Perhaps every guild member could buy a house that is a separate area that you can go to from the Hall (not really necessary, just a nice touch)

4) Quests that are started from the guild hall (maybe have to pay to do them), that unlock awesome things for your guild (or maybe just make your cape glow or something)

5) For a high price, a guild should be able to get a statue of a god (the one they feel represents their guild's mentality best). it could lead to a special, "Guild only" dungeon type area. You would only be able to get it if you have won a HoH battle and your country currently has the favor of the gods (plus the 1k fee to enter). This isn't the same thing as #4, as #4 is a "one time only" type thing, and you can repeatedly do this "mission"

6) Minigames would be awesome. In Guild Halls, in towns, wherever. They would just be sweet.

With the exception of #6, all of Manadar's suggestions are very good... I'd like to see those in the game.

I love ManadartheHealer's suggestions.

They really remind me of the Suikoden RPG's, especially the decoration, NPC's (in Suikoden, the different buildings, such as pubs, forges, etc. opened up if you got their respective NPC to move to your castle), and minigames. It's really nice because it really makes your guild hall seem more like a home rather than "just another location."

The idea about the statues really reminds me of Ragnarok Online, where your guild castles (equivalent to guild halls) have a secret switch, which may be "hidden" in a pot, statue, etc. and allow guild members access to a local guild dungeon (In RO, guilds castles are organized by cities, akin to the different themed islands in GW.) Unfortunately, in RO, the guild dungeons pretty much turned out to be farms, which may not be a good idea in GW. A deity statue that doesn't warp you to a dungeon would still be really cool as a decoration though.

I think the minigames idea is okay. I think it could be mixed with the quests idea though. For example, you get special points (not gold or sellable items; basically, nothing that can be mixed in and interfere with the economy) for scoring high for the minigames that allow you to unlock different decorations for the guild hall.

those are some very good points and as a ranger myself would love to see that.

all in all the game is near perfect when you take in to accout that its free. it is very fun. only thing i have a problem with is the death penelty, i dont mind it much but i wish you could get rid of it faster, also i was under the impression that if you got rezzed by a play you didnt get dp. maybe i misread. anyhow that is my only real complaint about the game and it really isnt that bad.
